Student Organizations

The Office of Student Activities and Leadership Development encourages you to join a student organization or even form a new one. Your participation provides valuable experience that can have a postive effect on your college experience.

Advantages:

  • Grow and learn to be a better leader
  • Meet others who share similar interests and expand your circle of friends
  • Develop your leadership skills and talent
  • Provide balance to the academic side of your life
  • Create a network of campus and community contacts

Student organizations and the Office of Student Activities and Leadership Development share a common purpose: to build a united and diverse community. Like you, we are motivated and determined to see student organizations develop. As the philosopher-poet Goethe shared, "Whatever you can do, or dream, begin it. Boldness has genius, magic and power in it. Begin it now."

Student Governance

The Office of Student Activities and Leadership Development collaborates and funds two student-driven councils: Chimera Council for the undergraduate community; and the Graduate Student Alliance (GSA) for the graduate community.

The purpose of each student council:

  1. Serve as advocates and liaisons on behalf of the administration and student community
  2. Enrich the community through meaningful events and initiatives
  3. Empower and support all respective constituents
